Members of the Transition Task Force

The TTF comprises 15 members including the Presidents of both ISSC and ICSU, namely Alberto Martinelli (ISSC), and Gordon McBean (ICSU); and two additional members of the Executive bodies of each organization (Jinghai Li (ICSU), David Black (ICSU), Saths Cooper (ISSC), Renee van Kessel (ISSC)). Khotso Mokhele, a former ICSU Vice-President for Scientific Planning and Review, and former member of the ISSC Committee for Developing and Transition Economies, will act as Facilitator of the group. It will meet for the first time in early February 2017. The additional members selected are:

Augusta Maria Paci

Dr Paci is Technology Director at International Relations Office of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in the area of organization and management. She is an internationally respected expert in foresight, technology development and impact assessment in the area of manufacturing industries. She has a long term and thorough experience of EU level activities via membership of various boards for the implementation of broad lines of H2020 WPs (Vice-chair for CNR of H2020 NMPB Advisory Board, Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of VTT Technical Research Centre-Finland, Member of the SFRI Expert Group 'Strategic Foresight for R&I Policy in H2020'). With fully experience in the implementation actions with recommendations, she is member of ISG and HLG of the European Technology Platform ManuFuture and member of the GRC - International Scientific Council. Inside CNR, actually she acts as: reference person for the CSA InRoad project, member of CNR Executive Committee of the Interdepartmental ‘Foresight’ project and member of Task Force ‘Open Science’. In 2014-15, coordinator of the CNR Interdepartmental Task-Force for European strategies. Dr Paci is the author of more than 60 publications.

Bruce Overmier

Bruce Overmier, Professor Emeritus of Experimental Psychology at the University of Minnesota (USA) and the Graduate Programs of Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Psychoneuroimmunology, and Education Sciences). He currently is a member of the Governing Council and the Policy and Planning Board of the American Psychological Association and Treasurer of the Federation of Associations for Behavioral and Brain Sciences. Overmier has been president of six psychological organizations including International Union of Psychological Science (2004-2008), and he served in the GAs of both ICSU and ISSC and on the US National Academy of Sciences’ Board on International Organizations. Overmier's published research spans learning, memory, stress, psychosomatic disorders, and their biological substrates and uses animal models of human dysfunction funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Mental Health, and National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

Junji Koizumi

Junji Koizumi is Secretary-General of IUAES, the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences, and former Chair of WCAA, the World Council of Anthropological Associations. He is former Trustee and Executive Vice President, former Dean of the School of Human Sciences and Professor Emeritus of Osaka University, and he currently serves as Auditor of NIHU, the National Institutes for the Humanities of Japan. He is a member of SCJ, the Science Council of Japan and has served as a member of the Central Education Council of Japan and numerous committees for national grants and fellowships as well as a leader of a number of large scale projects. He is an anthropologist who earned a doctorate at Stanford University in 1981 and was a Member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton in 1996-97. He is former President of JASCA, the Japanese Society of Cultural Anthropology, and has continued to carry out fieldwork in a rural area of Latin America.

Chin-Chun Yi

Chin-Chun Yi is a distinguished research fellow at the Institute of Sociology, Academy of Sciences located in Taipei. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology, University of Minnesota. Dr. Yi’s research interests include changing families in Chinese and East Asian societies (comparative analyses on marital power structure, intergenerational relations, etc.) and the growth trajectories of youth from early adolescence to young adulthood. She has served as the principal investigator of research projects in family and youth studies, and published in both English and Chinese academic journals. Chin-Chun Yi has been an active member of the ISA since 1990, and is the current president of RC06 (2014-2018) and an ISA executive committee member of Research Council (2010-2014, 2014-2018). In addition to academic work, Dr. Yi was appointed the National Policy Advisor for the China: Taipei President from 2011 - May 2016, the Commissioner for China: Taipei Provincial Government from 1994-1998, and advisors for various government ministries and NGOs.

Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev

Educated in Turkey and England, Dr. Yurdusev is presently Professor of International Relations at the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. He has been a Visiting Fellow at University of Oxford (United Kingdom) and University of Kansai (Japan). His research interests include the theory and history of international relations, the making of European identity and Ottoman diplomacy. Elected as a full member to the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) in June 2012, Professor Yurdusev now serves as the Vice-President of the Academy. He is the author of International Relations and the Philosophy of History: A Civilizational Approach (Palgrave Macmillan, 2003) and the editor of Ottoman Diplomacy: Conventional or Unconventional? (Palgrave Macmillan, 2004). He has many conference presentations and publications as book contributions and journal articles. His articles have been published in international journals such as Millennium: Journal of International Studies, Critical Middle Eastern Studies, Australian Journal of International Affairs, Korean Journal of Defense Analysis, Economia Exterior, Nomos (Japan), Journal of South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. Professor Yurdusev is a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science.

Marie-Lise Chanin

Dr Marie-Lise Chanin (PhD in Physics 1965, Paris), career started at the time of the International Geophysical Year IGY in 1958 and she has being working all along her career in Atmospheric Physics. She started to be involved in the ICSU Global Change programmes as a member of the IGBP-SSC from 1987 to 1994 and then as a co-chair of a programme she created the WCRP-SPARC Project on the Role of the Stratosphere on the Climate from 1992 to 2002. She was been member of the ICSU Executive Board from 2001 to 2005 and she is the représentant of ICSU in France. She is corresponding member of the French Académie des Sciences and member of the Academie des Technologies, the Academie de l’Air et de l’Espace, Academia Europaea, and the International Academy of Astronautics. She is Commandeur de la Légion d’Honneur and Grand Officier de l’ordre du Mérite.
